Here’s How To Complete Your IMC Registration
Whether you’re a Doctor who has trained and qualified in the Republic of Ireland, a Doctor from another European country, or you’re coming to Ireland from outside of Europe to work as a Doctor - you are required by law to register with the Irish Medical Council (IMC). So how do you do this and what documentation is required?
At TTM we value your role as a Doctor and appreciate the skills, expertise and dedication you bring to our healthcare partners. We want to make sure your IMC Registration goes as smoothly as possible, so we’ve prepared this step-by-step registration overview:
What is the IMC?
The Irish Medical Council is the regulatory body for Doctors in the Republic of Ireland. Its statutory role is to protect the public by promoting the highest professional standards amongst doctors practising in the Republic. Comprising medical and non-medical members, the IMC maintains the Register of Medical Practitioners: a Register of ALL doctors who are legally allowed to carry out medical work in Ireland. It is an offence to practise as a Doctor within the state if you are unregistered. In addition, the Council sets the standard for medical education and training, overseas lifelong skills development and promotes good medical practice.
How you apply for Registration will depend on WHERE you trained and gained your medical experience. Let’s take a closer look:
